Webinar Recording (30 days access): ‘Separation Anxiety – How to Build Their Brave’

Separation anxiety can come with loads of heartache for children and their important adults, but there’s something else it comes with – the opportunity to strengthen all children against anxiety and build their brave – and we know they can be brave.

Saying ‘goodbye’ can be tough! Not only for our children, but for us too – even the strongest and bravest of parenting hearts can feel the wrenching that can come at separation. Separation anxiety exists for a good reason. We want to make children feel loved and supported, and we also want to build brave to make sure that anxiety doesn’t stand in the way of them doing the important, growthful things they need to do.

As their important adult, you have an enormous capacity to support them through separation anxiety and strengthen vital qualities and skills that will strengthen them now and for the long term. Let’s talk about how. In this 1.5 hour webinar, we will explore practical, powerful ways to build bravery when separation feels tough.

We will explore:

  • why separation anxiety happens, and the important job it’s there to do;
  • the thing all loving adults will do (we’ll all do them!) that can inadvertently make their anxiety worse, and what to do instead;
  • why their anxiety will fuel yours;
  • what adults can do to soften the impact of separation;
  • how to respond in the midst of anxiety – strategies for children, parents and carers (including teachers and other important adults);
  • practical ways to support your child through separation anxiety;
  • specific strategies for bedtime anxiety;
  • the toolbox for young people – how to help all children feel bigger at separation;
  • the connection between anxiety and aggression, and how to respond to big behaviour in the moment;
  • the connection between anxiety, behaviour and learning, and how to work with this;
  • a road map for supporting your child through anxiety – before, during, and after;
  • why relationships matter, and how to facilitate relationships between children and their important adults (teachers, other important adults) in ways that will build brave behaviour.

Access to the recording will be available for strictly 30 days from the date of purchase.

    This webinar came at the perfect time & Karen’s information was delivered in such a way that we were enabled to act on it straightaway. We used the skills from the webinar to work with our daughter to try a sleep over at a relative house that very night. It not only worked, but she loved the sleep over, was so proud of herself that she wrote us a thank you note for pushing herself to be brave and has booked another sleep over already! This is the same 9 year old that has only slept in my bed and nowhere else( not even her own room) for the last 2 years! Thank you Karen for helping all 3 of us!

    So many easily understood examples to put in to practice. Karen really knows her stuff. I wish I could download her brain to help my lil one with her anxiety but this webinar was without a doubt the next best thing. Thank you Karen!

    Such a wonderful informative session that kept me interested from start to finish. Love Karen’s analogies and examples, she really knows her stuff and is hilarious, had a few chuckles when I could relate to a lot of things she mentioned and thought yes how true. Karen was a great presenter and I really got so much practical advice that I look forward to being able to put into practice with my little one. Honest and practical information that was easy to understand and enjoyable to listen to. Thanks so much Karen.

    Absolutely brilliant! I cannot believe how much information was provided and I really love the way you explain reasoning behind anxieties occurring. Well done! I look forward to more of your webinars.

    This is a wonderful, practical and evidenced based webinar. Having worked in the field for over 30 years I still learnt a lot. I think it would be relevant to all parents/carers/teachers, even if you don’t have a child with separation anxiety, as the understanding it gives of the link between brains and behaviour is very useful. So too all the practical tips for supporting kids with anxiety.

  9. Melinda (verified owner)

    This was an excellent resource for understanding and helping children with separation anxiety in particular, but anxiety in general. The presentation was warm, humourous and so well-informed by the research into anxiety. I would highly recommend it.

    Absolutely amazing resource in helping us to better understand our daughter’s separation anxiety and receive tools in how to help her and us work through it! This also helped us realize we are not alone in this struggle! Thank you so much for your knowledge, compassion, and insight!
